the steps which have been taken with a view to its improvement, the

sanitary condition of the Colony still

leaves much to be desired, though I have been

glad to read the more re-assuring account

given in your despatch of the 31st of July,

why I would ask you to continue to give the

matter your serious attention.

I observe that Dr Clark and Dr Atkinson

refer to a Bill which was introduced into

the Legislative Council on the 22nd November

last in consequence of certain recommendations of the Sanitary Board, but which has

not yet apparently been passed into law.

I note also that Dr Atkinson in the last

paragraph of his Minute of the 6th of June

last suggests an amendment of Ordinance 24

of 1887. I shall be glad to have a report

upon these points.
